Wedding tips and hints
1. Make the most of your vendors.
- When hiring a band for your wedding reception, don't forget
about the cocktail hour and even the ceremony. Many bands
can easily accommodate your cocktail hour's musical needs;
oftentimes you can pull a piece or two out of your band
to play music for your cocktail hour for a modest additional
fee. You may even be able to utilize these musicians for
your ceremony if it is being held at the same location as
your reception.
- Conversely, if you opt to hire a separate classical ensemble
for your ceremony, then it is generally extremely cost effective
to have these musicians stay to play for the cocktail hour
as well for a modest additional fee.
- Be sure to discuss these aspects of your event with your
Hank Agency agent so she can advise you as to your options
and the best way to utilize your band AND your budget!
- And if you book several acts with us, you will get a group
discount!
2. Hire vendors who have worked together before and like
each other.
- This helps make your wedding day run smoothly! Hiring
a photographer and/or videographer who have successfully
worked with your band before means that your vendors know
each other and know what to expect from each other.
- This familiarity translates into a "team" atmosphere
behind the scenes and no unfortunate surprises. The vendors
are likely to work well together and keep each other informed
as to what's coming up next, so the photographer knows exactly
where to be when the first dance is just about to start
and the videographer doesn't miss the bride dancing with
her father.
3. Get referrals when choosing your other vendors.
- Hank Agency is picky and we expect the BEST! As we have
said before
"If we wouldn't have it at our own
wedding, we won't book it for you!" That motto applies
to every aspect of your wedding, not just the entertainment.
- We are happy to suggest and coordinate other industry
vendors that we have worked with in the past and know that
they do a tremendous job.
- From linens to tent rentals to flowers to formalwear,
venue selection, lighting, caterers, décor and more,
we know the best in the business and we are happy to help
you with all aspects of your event planning.
4. Designate someone to run the day.
- Put someone in charge of your rehearsal and wedding day
who can ensure that vendors, venues and the wedding party
are ready to go according to schedule.
- Be sure to select someone who doesn't fluster easily and
who isn't part of the immediate wedding party, so he or
she has the flexibility to check set-ups in advance of the
wedding party and guests.
- Even if you don't hire a wedding planner, it isn't realistic
to think that either the bride or her mother can effectively
serve as the "ring leader" and also enjoy the
event. Hank Agency knows some fabulous "Day-Of-Event
Managers" who are affordable and will make your life
much easier! So if you don't want to hire an all-out Wedding
Planner but still want everything to run smoothly, let us
connect you with the right people!
